The countdown begins

24 Oct

One month to go till the big day. (We’re actually not having his party until 3 days later, so I get a little more time than that.)

Since I decided to be difficult and pick the most challenging 1st birthday theme ever, I’m getting a little stressed. Not gonna lie. What’s the theme, you ask?

Goodnight Moon.

It’s B’s all time favorite book. I read it to him before bed every night. He knows it so well that when I get to the last two pages- he starts crying. 😦 He knows it’s going to end and that I’m going to leave.

Hey, did you know that there’s  NO Goodnight Moon themed anything around?? That means I have to  get crafty, which makes me kinda scared. (I know, I know, I’m a regular Martha Stewart, right?! [insert eye roll here] don’t be so shocked.)

My ideas:

  • green table-cloth
  • 1 red balloon for the birthday boy
  • star balloons everywhere
  • full moon cake
  • uhhh, yah- that’s all I have so far……

I’m thinking about doing a yellow cupcake cake for the main confectionary; in the shape of a moon, of course. (I mean- how hard could a circle be, right?)

In case you aren’t aware of what a cupcake cake is:

(Note: I found this creation on the interwebs… not one of my own. Obviously.)

But I’m thinking that icing the whole thing over is going to get really messy, so maybe I’ll just ice them individually and then arrange them into a full moon shape.

But then, isn’t that just a bunch of cupcakes in a circle?
