Independence day

5 Jul

I hope everyone that celebrates had a happy 4th of July!

We spent all day at the in-laws with family. Braxtyn played in the pool with his cousins.

He refused to take a nap which concerned me because I wanted him to be able to stay up to watch the fireworks. Finally after 8 hours of being awake I said, “It’s time to take a drive!” It never fails when B is tired that he will fall asleep within minutes of being strapped into his car seat.

Sure enough, 2 minutes down the road and he was out like a baby.

Steve had to haul the big, ole’ car seat out of the car as smoothly as possible to get it into the house, and then up a flight of stairs to a quieter room. He did end up napping for an hour. For a 3 hour napper, I’ll consider that better than nothing.

We went and got ice cream after he woke up, although  Braxtyn was more interested in the slides than the treat. After that we went out on grandpa’s boat to watch the fireworks.

It was so extremely hot and humid, even at 10:00 at night. Add that to the swaying of the boat and I thought I was going to be sick! Luckily, all was good and Braxtyn enjoyed the fireworks. We didn’t get home until midnight (gahhh!) and both me and the husband had to get up for work early this morning.

Oh well, fireworks only come around once a year, and I didn’t want to miss the look on his little face while he watched.
