DIY Flower Mobile

2 Mar

I had a burst of energy and inspiration the other night and spent 4 hours making a Floral Mobile for the baby’s room.

I saw some really cute pictures of these things on Pinterest but once I had clicked over to the Etsy links and saw how much people were charging for one- anywhere between $60 to upwards of $100+, I knew I could whip one together myself. And the best part? It only cost me 11 bucks.

That’s right. I went to the dollar store and spent $9 on artificial flower bunches, and $1 each on the ribbon and foam ring.

I painted the base of the green foam ring, but I’ve seen people wrap them in ribbons also. I attached 3 ribbons of equal length around the ring and secured with hot glue to hang from the ceiling and then proceeded to hot glue the flower heads (which pop right off the stem) around the bottom and outside of the ring. What’s also nice is the smaller flowers that I hung down from the mobile were easily attached by using pink thread and a needle and securing each one with a double knot at the length and interval I wanted. I then tied the tops of the thread around a push pin and stuck them on the inside of the foam ring. & Voila! Can’t beat that for $11.
