Ghosts & stuff

8 Feb

Ok. I’m not going to say I believe in ghosts, but I’m not going to say I don’t.

My dad got me hooked on The X-Files back in the day, I’ve watched Unsolved Mysteries, Tales from the Crypt (although I’m sure at the time, my parents wouldn’t have approved!!) and many other “supernatural” shows.

I’ve always had weird dreams- dreams that were too real. What’s actually really fun… or should I say really lucky for me is… if I’m having a bad dream- I have the ability to wake myself up. It’s called Lucid dreaming. But it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R! Seriously.

I recognize that I’m having a nightmare, and I can make myself wake up. But it takes a long time. It feels like there is 50 pound weights on my eyes. And I keep repeating to myself, “Wake up. Wake up. You’re having a bad dream. Wake up.” & that pretty much goes on over and over again until my one thousand pound eyes open! I mean… it’s probably only really 15 seconds…. but when you’re dreaming- 15 seconds can be a lifetime!! Amiright? 😉

Anyhow, back to my ghost scenario: My dad died mid June, and I have had his ashes in my home office since Julyish. He left me and my sister some insurance money when he passed, and one of the first things I did was buy Braxtyn a Melissa and Doug puzzle. I love M & D products & I wanted the first thing his money bought when he was gone was a gift for B. I thought it was cute that when you put the Parrot puzzle piece  in it’s place it made a parrot noise and when you put the Lion piece in its place, it would make a lion noise… and so on.

Not more than a couple days after I bought the puzzle, it would go off in the middle of the night. Steve said he had got up to get a drink of water in the middle of the night and the puzzle had gone off on the other side of the room without anyone touching it.

Then a month later came the toddler activity table that Braxtyn had grown out of at least a year before. We still kept it in the office for entertainment purposes for lil B while we were on the computer. This is a toy that if you don’t touch it, it will not make a noise. But Steve claims that more than once when he got up to get water in the middle of the night, it was going off. & Steve isn’t the type to lie about that, especially if it is a creepy toy going off in another room, hah.

Honestly? I just had to laugh and say, “Yup- that’s my dad.” My dad had a funny sense of humor. I got the same one. Ever since my dad died we’ve had this weird thing going on with our ceiling fan/light. Yah. My dad was an electrician so don’t even tell me he’s not behind this:

Since he’s been gone, our ceiling fan/light will speed up/light on at 3:00 AM (example) WHAT?! Random. We thought maybe the battery was dying so we would take the battery out at night. No random lights on at 4 or 5 AM. Hooked it back up. New battery. All good. 3 weeks later- lights on while we’re watching a show in bed at 10:30. Huh?!

Tonight. No ones touching the fan remote. It’s on the low setting.

::Suddenly::
HIGH SETTING. *Fan spinning like crazy*

Me: “My dad’s mad we haven’t buried his ashes yet. I’m gonna go write a blog post about this.”

Steve: ::grunt::

Me: “He’s asleep….”
